My Role in Republican Party Politics

I serve on the State Central Committee of the Republican Party of Iowa.
As one of three representatives from Iowa's second congressional district, I have been getting a lot of phone calls and e-mails regarding the rebuilding of the party. My former colleague, David Chung (who resigned over the summer to back Gubernatorial candidate Christian Fong), also has a blog where he regularly posts relevant party information.

Although the blog contains most of my day-to-day commentary, this page should give you a better idea about my background. It is my hope that you will turn here often for insightful information and links that can help Republicans get on the path to victory again.

While I used to be heavily interested in national politics, I am much more in tune to what is happening in Iowa. There are several reasons.
1. My head is only so large. There is so much to keep track of at the national level, that I just can't keep up with it all.
2. The national media is so skewed and the politicians and analysts are so scripted that I don't know who to believe.
3. My efforts can mean so much more in Iowa. Des Moines is a short drive from Southeast Iowa. No appointment is necessary, and I know the cell phone numbers for many of the legislators.

Keep in mind when you explore this site that I am a bitter partisan. While I do my best to remain level-headed, I can not think like a democrat. And yes- I eat them for breakfast every now and again.

Political Views

I am a strong conservative that believes in traditional family values and in a limited government that practices fiscal restraint.
