So why blog?
I debated for well over a year whether or not to blog.

Many bloggers comment on the day-to-day political headlines. I knew that my posts would not be updated often enough to play in that arena.

Other bloggers tell the inside story or the story behind the scenes. Because of my role with the state party, revealing those details online is too risky. They could easily be taken out of context.

I do think my site fills a small void that exists in the Iowa blogosphere. While my blog is critical of specific legislation, it goes beyond a mere complaint and suggests alternative solutions for those issues of the day. While obviously partisan, it challenges Republicans to provide leadership, stick to conservative principles, and control the debate. While it respects the service of party veterans, it encourages the next generation to walk the walk.

While I am not critical of those who blog anonymously, I do think 'owning' your commentary enhances credibility.

That is why I blog.

About Jason

Born and raised in Southeast Iowa, I grew up on a family farm outside of Morning Sun. My father taught me that there's something therapeutic about putting in an honest day's work. My mother instilled in me a natural desire to succeed.

I married my high school sweetheart, Jaime, and we have two beautiful children. My wife of five years feels that it is her duty to personally deflate my ego. My children have made me appreciate 10 minutes of peace and quiet, but they have also brought tons of joy to my life. Despite all of my faults, they are great kids.

My formal education is in finance, real estate, and economics from the University of Northern Iowa, and I hold an MBA from St. Ambrose University.

Economic development is my chosen profession, and I spend my free time answering e-mails from Republican activists and following the stock market.

We live in Morning Sun, and it is a great community. The closest thing to 'ordering in' is driving to Casey's and picking up a pizza, but despite that, we enjoy living in a small community.
